The graduate in this major are professionals with a solid education in the areas of psychics and mathematics and knowledge in the Science and Engineering Materials also have wide knowledge of metals and alloys, ceramics, polymers and compound materials, and general knowledge of administration, finances, and ecology.

The Materials Engineers are qualified to design, selection and transformation, use and application of the different engineering materials.

They have knowledge to make characterizations of materials and use these concepts in the optimization and adaptation of different productive processes, also tools to solve the issues related with materials failures.

During their stay in this school the students get humanistic courses which give them the training to comprehend and to get involved with the society, carrying out professionally in an ethical way.

The Materials Engineers are able to work en team, prevent and solve ecological problems, they are enterprising and leaders in their field job also have the abilities to communicate in an oral and writing way and relate with others even in other language and are committed with their community. The graduate has conscience of the economic, political, and social impact.


The Materials Engineer are qualified to develop themselves as an adviser in the area of materials, as professional in the industry in general, as professor, and engineering researches directing research and development projects in metal materials areas, polymers, ceramics, and compound materials, and as independent professional,m and entrepreneurs.


The Materials Engineers are qualified to work in any plastic, polymers, conventional ceramic materials, refractory and advanced ceramics, mining industry, petrochemistry, chemistry and food chemistry, in manufacture and materials transformation companies, automotive, rail industry and transportation industry , general transportation, and research centers.


Tin order to obtain the Materials Engineer Degree, the students should study at least 434 credits (including Social Service and Professional Practices), as well as to demonstrative to be competent in a second language.
